I found a 1997 f150 needs a couple of things but it has 280,000 on it. Has the 4.6L in it. $800 is this a good deal?? I thought it was but mileage is high.
Since we don't know if it needs $3 or $3,000 of repairs, how can anyone answer the question?
needs a couple hundred bucks worth of work. supension stuff mainly. i have seen the 5.4 go well into the 300 thousands but never seen one of these. just looking to see if anyone has one with over 300k on it.
Yes the 4.6L holds up just as well as the 5.4L but you sacfrice alot of capapbility for work purposes. If the truck is solid even if everything goes wrong with it you will still get roughly $500 plus in metal value.
My suggestion is think of the return in the long run: say you bought it and drove it everyday for 6 months without putting any cost other then routine maint. 6 months about 6k miles that you wouldnt be putting on a diff vehicle.
good luck with what you decide.
