I have a couple of distributors, one in a '82 and the carb has all those wires and vacuum lines all over it, the other on an '87 motor, I think it's original to the motor but, the 87 has a ford 2 brl on it.
The caps are different but they both have the wire plugs on them.
So, witch is the "good" one?

Some distributors (pre-1984-85, whenever they began with the feedback carb) were for Duraspark I and Duraspark II ignition systems. Ford then went to the EEC III and EEC IV computer-controlled ignition systems, those have the ignition modules on the distributor instead of on the front wheel covering and there are no vacuum lines on them (the distributors).
California trucks had computer-operated stuff well before everybody else.
