I picked up a parts 65 3/4 F100 Camper Special today that was in a fire. It has a 390 with a 4 speed but due to the fire I can't open the hood. I tried using a pry bar on the latch but it is stuck. I looked to see if I could somehow use my saws-all but not really sure how to do it. Any thoughts?
I got it open - thanks. I used a screwdriver and pry bar to get the latch open - but then the hinge was totally froze up due to fire - bent the hood opening it but the hood is toast anyway.
For info purposes: Took the truck to neighbors house so he could check out the engine, he made a comment on how difficult it was to lift and lower the hood, opening was not as difficult but occasionally had to pull hard to lower. Before we got into discussing the engine he reached for a aerosol can of Silikroil penetrating oil; I never heard of it, and applied a couple squirts to the hinges, don't ever recall the hinges working soo smoothly. Subsequently rebuilt front suspension and applied simikoil to the idler, ball joints, etc., the night before and IMO helped in the disassembly?
