Question On 2012 Trans Recall
How affected has anyone been by this? We are in Saudi Arabia, and service can sometimes be a major problem for us. We can't afford to have a truck down for a long time for repairs.
Any info would be appreciated. I am writing the specs, and I am already going crazy because of the fuel change in the US limiting what types of chassis are available over here now. That, and management has now decided that they want the new squads yesterday.
I've moved your thread to the 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel forum. Although your question is more centered around the transmission, the folks down here are likely to give you a better response than in the Super Duty forum.
But after reading your post, I too am having some transmission issues. Not all the time, but enough to notice. Sometimes there are very hard down and/or up shifts and a clunky feel throughout the entire driveline. Have not brought this up to the dealer yet. I'm more concerned with the front end at this point...
On our 2012 we've not had any problems with the tranny...
actually, no issues with anything....
9K miles on it and it finally said "Take it to daddy to get the oil changed"
About 3k of the 9k were towing and it has worked flawlessly in the Texus heat !

My friend told me about his trouble with his -350. Slow shifting, clunking, and funny noises. Less than 9K on it. He's in OH, and the dealership brought techs in from MI because they can't find anything wrong with it, but they said they know something is not right. As of now, he is going through "lemon law" litigation over it.
I'm concerned because if we get F-350 and -450 chassised ambulances, and something goes wrong, there is the down-time factor, not to mention the limited maintenance here in the Middle East.
The ambulance sales rep was not familiar with anything, but I figured on that. We are looking at purchasing upwards of maybe 100+ vehicles. It would really suck if even a 1/4 of them had this.
I'm running stock 18" wheels w/ Michelin all season tires. My truck has not rode right from day 1. My service advisor is trying to figure something out with a regional rep as what to do, as they have not fixed the wiggle/wobble in the front end. I could only imagine what they would say if I brought it back with yet another issue...strange shifting tranny. But I will bring it to their attention next time I'm in....

That recall only applies to very few. Recalls are listed at the top of this site under Recalls/TSBs. I've had minor tranny issue in the lower gears, mainly 2-3 often when engine is cold where it seems to skip then buck into 3 but it doesn't concern or annoy me that much. Now, when I have my fiver attached the tranny shifting is smooth as butter. Just hitting over 3K miles and notice smoother shifting w/o any load.
