Picked up a C4 from a '77 Granada, with flexplate and spacer today to install in my '73 F-100 302 with manual. The C4 looks nice and does not appear to have ever been removed, though I plan to rebuild it).
But...to my surprise, the flexplate was stamped "AOD!" It's got 164 teeth and "appears" to be 28 ounce, so here's my question:
The car was in a junkyard with a rear/side impact rendering it totalled, and as I've said, the tranny appeared to be the original install (uncut exhaust pipes, etc.) and the engine was a 351W.
So...why would an AOD flexplate be found in a '77??? Didn't they start using the AOD's in the eighties?
My concern is in reusing it. It looks fine, but is there a way to tell visually if it's a 28 ounce weight bob? Thanks. Polkat
