Help, got tiny mirrors on a 05
Please help , can you guys direct me to up grades for my small ears, got a 2005 with small mirrors and want some tow mirrors , See a lot of posts on older Exs. But no 2005s
I'm 99% sure '02-'05 will be a direct swap to plug in, as long as your old mirrors were power and had the turn signal thing in the mirror. I think the wiring is all there (except for the clearance light, maybe) and the plugs should be the same.
I had the paddle mirrors on my black Excursion originally and replaced them with an aftermarket tow mirror. It had the same plug and was a direct fit, except it wasn't wired up for the clearance light part. I was able to tap that in afterwards though, and it all worked out.
The 2000-01 Excursions, or maybe just 2000, used a round plug for the mirrors. So anyone who wants to upgrade to the newer tow mirrors with the signals and lights needed an adapter that's available. You should have the '02+ rectangular plug, which should be the same as what that mirror style has.
Got the same dog-ear mirrors on my Excursion stock, I've since upgraded to these tow mirrors and like not only the look, but the view. You can see EVERYTHING behind you, especially your blind spot.

The end of the wiring terminal will have one of two setups. Either a rectangle or an oval. You need to look at the end of your mirror control wiring in the door to determine which one you need. Most of the mirrors you buy come with both sets and it is plug and play. Otherwise the adaptor is pretty cheap. Our site sponsors sell em. Some of the wire colors for the 05 are different than the 00-04's, but it is still a no splice bolt on.
