Driveshaft lube issues

Hey guys need some help, took my rear driveshaft apart today in my 2000 F-250 to lube the splines, no problem taking it apart. Splines looked ok put a little Redline grease on them and went to re-install and could get the shaft to slide in freely. It would go in a half an inch then stop, so I used a hammer to help get it. Got it all back to drives fine just concerned over have to "force" the shaft splines in. Is this normal?

did you clean the old grease out of the end. it may have been air locked. if so it should be fine.

There is a keyway on the spline - Im guessing u got it lined up or it probably wouldnt go back together, so u should be fine. Did it solve a vibration problem for u ?

No, that is not right. As snakedoc said, it may not be able to go in if the air can't get by (should be spongy) or if you put in so much grease you have a hydraulic lock. Did you get the splines indexed in the right place? Needs to go back where it was, there may be only one way it will go together.
