Fast N Loud
I need to find more information on the Crown Vic kmember swap, if anyone has info. Wonder if this could be adapted to a 79?
Too bad Richard does not post his builds on a forum, Jalopie Journal or something.
I also liked the 8.8 swap over the 9". Looked maybe like an early 90's F150 8.8 with Explorer disk brakes?
These guys are good friends of mine and I've yet to see the same quality of work on the builds I've seen here as they are capable of.
Richard is a character but that's why the show is still filming more episodes, and the builds keep going, KC Aaron and the rest are busy building hot rods while all you experts are playing on your computer.
The 68 is nicer in person than the tv can show, the lack of billet/chrome and other crap just shows the amount of detail in the build, and as far as the auction (a real/legitimate auction with legal binding bids) ,goes it was up to $47,500 when I left, and drew more attention than any thing there. Like it or hate it it's gonna be around awhile, so instead of picking it apart, go out and learn how to fabricate/paint or do anything to your own project!!!

Davewild's build
Do a search here along with Google & at Fordification.com & you should find a ton of information. The Bump guys seem to like the Explorer rear. 8.8 with discs. I have info in the drivetrain section at Fordification for the 8.8 including gear ratios available. As I understand it the trucks (except Ranger) came with 31 spline axles.

I have a build with DJ Dreambeams, shackles etc but like the late model approach better!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
First of all I like the truck. It came out very clean. I LOVE the color!
On the show they stated they had 3k in those wheels and tires; that is a flat out LIE. I know this because they bought those wheels from my friend. They came and got them from him where he works. They paid $600 for all four wheels with no tires. I seriously doubt they have $2400 in tires on those wheels. Maybe 1k at most and that is IF they put a good tire on them; but I would be guessing they went the cheap rout and have around $700 or less. With that being said; I would take all those #'s they are throwing out on that show with a grain of salt.
Not sure what they paid for the engine but they come relatively cheap now a days. I got a complete Mark VIII for $600 with similar mileage they claimed their motor had. CV can come really cheap as well as the rear end.
Like I said, the truck is really nice, but fabrication on the truck? What fabrication? They cut out the old front suspension and bolted in the used CV. The only welding I saw was for the strut rod to the frame aft of the BOLTED in CV, they "notched" a cross member (I would have removed and MADE a new one), and notched the rear frame. I didn't really see any other real fabrication in my opinion. They did the gas tank install as well but didn't show how they did it. But I have done that one and there is really nothing to it. Since they used the cv front cross member, the engine mounts and all should have bolted right up. Drop in engine....Bam!
They painted completely stock sheet metal and put it together. No custom body work or anything? Seems like a pretty straight forward build to me?
I would say the hardest part of that build was dissecting and wiring the truck. Been there and done that and it can be very time consuming.
Oh, and one last thing, do you think they told all the bidders the engine was USED with a GUESTIMATED 20 thousand miles on it? And the front suspention was USED? Not saying they didn't, but DID they?

$47,500 on the truck when you left? There was no pictures for the "phone" bidder to see,No truck for the rest of the bidders to see during the preview and it sells for 50,000.00....Off the truck and right to the auction floor LOL! Granted it was a nice ride when it was done but I call BS!
Shows like this is why every one with a rusted pile of junk thinks its worth 10 grand.
