D5K Cat

I may have to rent Cat D5K dozer for a job. So my question is would you tow it. It weights 20700lbs my trailer would be maxed (21k top hat) I have to tow it about 30 mins across town. Speed limits in town are 45mph. I really don't want to pay the 500 delivery and pickup fee. So would you tow it?

Do you think your trans is up to it? I would probably try it if not too many steep grades and low speeds.

I think it would hold as long as I keep my foot out if it.
It's all flat ground

I run my 18,000 lb back hoe all over on a 3000 lb trailer .. if your braking system is up to it , shouldn't be an issue...

Well, you know your truck better than any body, if you think it will do it, go for it! I probably would, especially with your mods. Just remember, Christmas is over 4 months away!

My main thing is the trailer being maxed. I'd really hate to have a 26k pound load break away and go down the road like a bowling ball

I don't think my insurance would like that too much lol

You should be fine on the trailer. Like Rick said, I've hauled way over the rating on some trailers. Does yours have the break away cable that activates the brakes?

Sounds like , all you have to be concerned about is keeping the load attached to the truck...
