Does anyone know where I can get a general idea of the value of a '40s era Ford tractor? I think it's an 8N...? Also, I'm not sure exactly what year it is, so any guides on differences between the years is appreciated. I'll be out of town for the next week, so thanks in advance... :-)
Yesterdays Tractors. not sure of the address - you can get it with a search engine. They have a serial number reference that will age the tractor for you. If it is an 8N, it is from about 1946 on, the 9n was prior to that, with a version during the war, that was less equiped for economy. The price of the 8n is from about $2,000 for a reasonable one, to $3,500 for a good one. One in need of restoration would cost about $1,200. Of course, you could pay less, and in some locations a lot more. I have a 1939 9n that I use for mowing the grass, that is worth about $2,200, fully restored.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Sep-02 AT 09:32 PM (EST)]My parents found the bill of sale, and it had model number 9N-165933 and was dated 1943. Hunh....
Unfortunately, it hasn't been started in about 15 years and has settled itself into four cozy little depressions in the back of the pasture... :-(
Well, to finish the story it sold for $925. Pretty good I think, considering how long it had been since it was last run. Some relatives bought it and towed it home with a nicely restored John Deere (1949), so I think it's going to a good home...
