O.K. Friend does HVAC and has a sniffer. Tested it to see if it would pick up 134a by letting a little gas out of the low pressure port. Sniffed everywhere no luck.
Pinholes leaks can develop anywhere. Condensers coils, evaporator coils, around any port, tubing etc. Use a very soapy solution in a spray bottle and look for bubbles. If you are loosing four pounds of refrigerant in a week, it should be a noticeable leak.
sniffer did not work because there was less than a 1/4lb of refrigerant-not enough pressure i suppose.
friend that does HVAC came over and put 200lb's of dry nitrogen in system. turns out the compressor has a hiss toward the front where the pulley is. we sprayed everything with soap and still no bubbles, and still can't find any dye.
