"I don´t understand the mentality. Today after I got off work it started snowing. Naturally I engaged my 4x4 and off I went. I went home, changed my clothes and stopped at a friends house were my girlfriend was and we all watched Pulp Fiction. By the time we were finished it was about 1:00. There was about 2" of snow on the ground and we were headed to Wendys. So my girlfriend and I are cruising down the road, doing about 25 to 30, the speed limit is 35. I´m using common sense here, just because I have 4x4 doesn´t mean I can go like a bat out of hell. But then an Audi A4 Quattro passes me doing about 45,I can't speak civillyis that? I was hoping the jackass would spin out of control and hit a tree or something severly damaging his car and teaching him a lesson about his ´Godlike´ AWD. I hate people that abuse it and think they´re invincible out on the road. "
They think just because they have 4 wd they can stop better too. One day I went driving around town to see whatt he storm did. Headed toward the main road. Keep in mind this is a small town of 1600. I started braking but nothing happened, i pulled the emergency brake, nothing happened so I just took it off and started heading the way I was just coming from b/c my vehicle had already started slowly turning around. I wasnt going fast, I just couldnt get traction or friction worth a *****. I went home shortly after. latr

iD BUY ONE...lol fOR Real..
Im actuallt thinking about trading my truck in on a new H2 with the half bed soon....Decisions, but I will actually use it towing a Haulmark trailer, and other stuff...
I would check its approval rating. Its still a new vehicle on the market but it has the worst reliabilty rating of any vehicle. The bed on the H3 wont be very big. Big enough for a few bags of grocerys. latr
I would like to know where people get the money for these cars and trucks??? I am working my buttocks off, and so is my wife, we are making over 75,000 a year( combined) and we are still struggling to keep things going. I want to know where I can work and what new career can I start that I will have "mad money" in my pockets.
I drive a full sized pickup all over Colorado for work, and what I have noticed about the luxury SUV crowd is that they have a strange attitude.
I usually do well over 80mph on I-25 between Denver and Colorado Springs, and it never fails that even though I am doing 15 over and passing every car in the right lane, I ALWAYS have a luxury SUV or some gargantuan status symbol truck tailgating me. Every time. I NEVER get over to let them by because I would have to slam on my brakes to avoid rear-ending a semi, and they get to stay right on my bumper.
Now I don't really care if they are there, but if something went wrong and I had to stop quickly, they would hit me and send me careening across traffic, or worse. Don't people think about that?
I guess between your cell phone and your in-dash DVD, you are too distracted to care whether your life or mine is in danger.
There's a Hummer dealership right down the street from me, and all the sales guys at the bar tell me that people are so concerned whether they look cool that they don't ask about the H2's dependability or safety ratings (both horrible). They say that many of the H2's they sell are back in for service within a month, and that GM has had serious warranty issues with the product. And the stories are true: they have had H2's that would not start for test drives, and people STILL bought them!
That's $50,000 well spent!!

Don't start a new career; Just follow the simple rule that has created most of the millionaires (most you don't even realize they are) in the US.
"Spend less than you earn and do it for a long time. Then save and invest the difference."
One thing I thought was kinda funny - I went to Subway for lunch one day during school. I parked next to this Lexus SUV, I pulled all the way up to the curb, my front-end was head of this Lexus. Then I got out and started walking and "sizing up the competition(Thats a joke)" and I noticed my Bronco was longer AND wider than the Lexus. Imagine that, my little 'ole Bronco that runs good as new costing only $2700 and it's more roomy than a $40,000 SUV. I really like that. The other thing I like to do is parking next to the yuppies (As previously stated, Colorado is full of the luxury SUV's) and then if they come out of the store the sametime as me and get in their junk, I start up the Bronco and rev it a little to let em know I mean business and what a REAL truck is
It's simply not economical for a working class guy to buy a new vehicle. Between payments, insurance, and maintenance it's too much money. But if I was rich you can bet I'd be driving a top of the line Lincoln Navigator dropped and sitting on 22 inch rims with every extended warranty plan I can get. Until then I'll stick with the $500 beaters I don't have to insure and can fix on my own.
It's these city people that give the truck and SUV market a bad name. Sure the older explorer is top heavey but your not going to tip it over if your going to be doing the speed limit and drving it like an SUV and NOT a sports car. And your not going to tell me that you need a 40,000 dollar SUV to go to work and back everyday and that the only off roading you do is the gavel at the local restrant down the street. I think that many people need the safety sucurity that's why these luxury SUV's are so popular isbecause yes it can be intimadating driving along at 55 or 70 mph while you are passing a semi with a flat bead. ok i'm done now
I live in northern VA and im in yuppie central. when a lil ricer pulls up to me at the light and revs his whole 1.5l engine, i let my 5.8 roar a lil, but not too much. being jsut south of a military base, all the marines wives that drive yuppie+ SUV's drive like a bat outa hell. one rear-ended me at a light then told the insurance co. that i stopped on green, when i was stopping for yellow(i dont like running red{being a firefighter ive seen too many messy accidents}). their insurance called and i said bull***** right to their face. i told them if they wanted the real story, tell me your fax and ill fax the police report. i did fax it and the lady the lied called me and asked me like i was here best friend not to press insurance fruad charges. i shoulda, but didnt.

If you were to buy a luxury car that cost about the same as a luxury SUV, wouldn't you rather get the SUV that can tow a boat and do some off-roading?
Most of it is showing off the money, but I think many of these folks dream that one day they may actually go out into the wilderness! But they can't because they are stuck at work all the time trying to pay for the car :-)
I realize, that for the $$, we could all build something that will embarass these vehicles off-road.
Now, for the life of me, and cannot understand why anybody would drop and SUV....
Heck, if I had the money I'd buy that Kenworth SUV he designed lol, but I want an 8 foot bed attached that's all.
Because if I had the money I'd have a huge car trailer and I'd want the most comfortable intimidating truck out there. Heck yeah it really is an extension of your thingy, for one reason or another whether we like to admit it, trucks are an ego trip for us guys. The bigger the better. If I had the money I'd also buy a 4-door dually stick it on 38's, cover the entire inside with leather put a topper on it, build a living quarter wiht a big LCD screen, a bed and a refrigerator so I could catch a nap if on a long trip. I'd also put on up front for when I'm waiting for some chick (my mom or girlfriend) while they're in the store looking around. I'd have an awesome sound system and a Navigation system because as it is i'm always lost and I'd think it'd be cool to know where the nearest Burger King is when I'm in another state (did I mention I like gadgets?)
I mean I'm broke as all get out now, but I save my money for gadgets in my truck. I have the CB radio, am still one of the only people I know with XM radio and I have 1 ten inch subwoofer. I take it offroad on occasion, I try not to rag it out because I found out the hard way I don't have the money to repair my mistakes lol.
The thing that ticks me off is vegetarians and anything front wheel drive. All of that severe understeer is just scary, not to mention it gives a false sense of traction until your in a spin. But I try to live and let live. They're all mostly Low Emissions Vehicles anyway, so they aren't really doing that much more to the environment than all these green peace yuppies in their Civics.
