I am trying to find out if I am serial number Y 40,000 and before or if I am Y40,001 to 60,001. I looked and I have no Y in my vin number or anywere that I can find. If you know I would like some info. Thank you.
Your serial number is the last six digits of your VIN. That means if your VIN ends in say R71633 it is before Y40,001. This is for 73-77. On the 78-79 models, it's still the last six digits, but now, the first two digits are letters instead of one letter and one number (i.e. a 78-79 model's s/n will be DG7654)
Just a note, If your truck is a 78-79 model it is AFTER Y60,001.
