Do you have a picture of the one you just received?
I would also be interested in seeing what you previously had.
Hi ,
Over the years I have had nine 53-56's but have never had one with a good floor mat, just remnants. The 54 M-350 that I'll be putting this mat into my dad bought in 1958 at which time it had a decent floor mat. I do not remember any stars, the ribs I think were much smaller and the mat was thinner, all of the remnants were the same as the 54. Keep in mind this is a pretty old memory so I could be wrong.
I'm thinking that the stars were a U.S. thing, something the same as the stars on the U.S. flag, and the Canadian trucks had different mats. I really wish that I had a picture of an original mat in a Canadian truck.
All things considered I believe I will be happy with what I got and think it will stand up better than the original.
I forgot to mention that there is no cut out for the floor shift. This is the only thing I don't like about this floor mat. I know I will be a little nervous when the time comes to do this. As far as I know these trucks never had a gear shift boot so the hole will have to be very accurate. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong-please. Also if anyone has a suggestion as to how to get the location exactly right please reply.
Thank you.
Remove the gear shift. Unscrew the cap and lift the lever out. Remove the positioning pin so not to loose it. Position the mat using everything else, clutch, brakes, dimmer, etc. At this time you should be able to ascertain exactly where the shift cut out should be made. Good luck.
I'm working with Dennis on the 1948-52 mats. We will finally have exact of original mats available. (The ones that were previously available were a lousy copy of a 1960's replacement style).

Thanks for doing this! Do you happen to know when the new 48-52 mats will be available?
OK people I think I have the picture thing figured out so here goes. Sorry it took so long.
Top view
mine looks just like this mat but my cutouts can be seen from the top side as there are perforated lines for the clutch, shifter, and even a cutout for the treadle on the Big Jobs... I got the mat 13 years ago from a FTE member, not sure if it was repop or NOS....
For the right hand drive fellows down under, why not turn the mat upside down... if you don't like the looks of that, then turn it upside, get a big piece of paper and trace the cutouts and transfer it to the top side of your mat and then cut your holes....
Hi to all that are interested.
I came across a pretty much original Canadian built 56 F-600 this past summer that has what appears to have the original floor mat still in it. This truck has less than 18,000 mi. on it. Apparently the only thing that isn't original is the exterior paint.
The floor mat looks exactly like the replacement mat, that I got last summer, on the top side. The bottom side is ribbed, the replacement is smooth. Also the original does seem to be thinner but it could be the bottom ribbing that makes it seem thinner.
When time permits I'll do a post about this truck over in the Large Truck forum.
Here are some pics.
This last pic is of the ribbed surface on the bottom side.
It appears that the Canadian mats were the same as the U.S. mats.
I hope this is of some interest to someone.
Bye for now, Old Ugly.
