2006 Expedition AC Problems
They were also told that the compressor manifold was bad. ??? I have never heard of a compressor manifold, an I have never seen one. I am wondering if they are talking about the hoses that sometimes are joined by a piece of aluminum. They were also told they need a new reciver (thats how it was spelled) and a new expansion valve.
I have tried to look up the parts, because depending on what it is I might be able to replace them for them, and then they would have to get the system charged. But the only part I can find is the compressor.....what are the other parts? I did find a control valve, maybe thats the expansion valve? But its double the cost from Ford from what these jokers are charging for it. (Possibly aftermarket maybe?)
As to the rest, it sounds like the shop just wants to replace the whole system and then go on a vacation somewhere with the profits. I'm not there obviously but I would say you can just replace the compressor, the manifold o-rings, and then pull a vacuum and charge the system.

Ford just saved $0.10 on a washer to cause this problem to everybody. That's why this happens on the hottest days when the pressure is the highest.
