Newb from Scott AFB
Anyways, what I'm trying to sort out with it is what I think may be a tranny problem. First off the truck as 4.10 gears, so I understand it's not going to go anywhere fast. But the issue I have is it's pulling power. If I have a trailer with a car on it, the truck will slow down to about 45 mph going up a hill. Additionally, if you go down a hill with no load on the back and say you are only doing about 45 mph you can put it in neutral and the truck will pick up speed. It just seems like the tranny is dragging or something. Is this typical with this engine, trans, and gear?
I'm already on the hunt for a donor truck to swap it over to a manual. And I already have a set of 3.55s for it.
And then the second question I have, is could it have a restrictor or something in it causing the power issues. It was originally a California truck and I know that state is tight on emissions. So I figured there was an off chance it could be possible.
Or could the overall problem here just simply be power loss through that auto tranny?
I'm going to try and adjust the pump, maybe that'll help some.
Thanks for any help guys.
