I will do a quick overview of my project I have been working on it for a year now. I bought this 2wd cc I converted it to fwd with a dodge d60 and put super duty springs on four corners. I did a rear brake conversion and rebuilt the motor trans and transfer case. I did a p/s swap for a 79 box that I rebuilt. Now I am boxing the frame for the new motor. I want this to be like a new truck so everything is getting rebuilt as I go. I have more pics so just ask if you want to see anything. I will try to keep this thread updated as I go.
very nice
question , looks like the front shackle is angled wrong in the pic
am I seeing this wrong on is the bottom of the shackle pointing forward
or is it just straight up and down without the weight on it ?
Yea they are wrong because there is no weight on them. When I put them on I left them a little on the wrong side because the cummins with the trans and transfer case will move them to the right side.seeing how I am going from a couple hundred pounds to well over a thousand pounds.
looking good motor mounts sort of look like mine i should make a build thread for my 71 crew but so many pictures to start from as im half way done now ill be watching this
I got some stuff accomplished this week. First of all I got my new front crossmember built and welded in. And second of all I got the tranny crossmember put in. I used volvo motor mounts and the stock crossmember.
goin alright i see nice machinery your using on the crossmember see your using the stock tranny crossmember to like me i even managed to get the stock mount to bolt to the nv4500 trans
Yea I have it all lathe too it is nice to have. I did a little mod to the crossmember beefed up the mounts to the frame. I have learned after doing my super duty swap over 6 yrs ago make everything extra strong because this motor will break it. And to leave plenty of clearance because mounts settle.
Well I got a bunch of stuff done but very little finished. I started on my duel fuel system. Then I started on my trans shifter setup I still need to build shift rods. I got my throttle cable and pedal done. I also got my sterring finished. And last but not least I got my hydroboost in. My plan is to try and get this motor running before the snow flies. Because next spring the whole truck is getting blown apart to finish weld, grind then its paint chrome and powder coat.
It's the stock one out of the truck the outlets are both on pass side. It's a three core. The cummins in my superduty is cold blooded I have a electric fan on it but it NEVER comes on. So this rad should be more than enough.
