I am going to have to change the oil pan in 94 E 150 with 5.0 shortly. I am wondering if there is an online parts source out there with good prices on the pan.
yo,
Didn't see any listed here in MotorHaven so try JEG's: http://www.jegs.com
Tjey have plated and unplated versions; egt a price incl S+H and then compare locally at NAPA.
Out 96's pan started to rust at 62k miles. Just had it blasted, primed and painted to avois the hassle.
if you get one from a junkyard they are resurfaced and i dont like that. i got mine from autozone it was 60 bucks and the one peice gasket was 20 i have changed 3 of them pans now 1 on a truck and 2 on e150 vans. www.autozone.com

Any hints for E 150. And I did see the one listed at Advance but price was 75. Is it cheaper for F series and are they the same.
i would think a chrome plated pan would last longer then just a plain painted steel pan because before it gets chromed it has a layer of copper put on the steel first then it is chromed chrome will clean with the pressure washer easier then the painted pan or try using por 15 on it
I just ordered one from NAPA for $65. They said it should be here in a couple of days. I called about 6 local junk yards -- er, parts salvage companies, and no one had any in stock.
Thanks for the heads up on NAPA. I know that we are not supposed to endorse but they are my overall favorite. I did not see it listed on their website so I thought that they did not have one. I have not had to order yet because my JB Weld patch is still holding strong. I'll let you know.
Heh.. I was under the truck tonight eyeballing my suspension (buying new shocks here this week)
I am greeted with a big ol bubble on the side of my pan that is seeping oil.
I could probably put my pointer finger right through the thing.
So are you guys serious about being able to get proper clearance simply by 2x4ing the engine after opening up the mounts? Or will that only buy me enough space for the pan gasket?
This bites But I guess misery loves company, since it's such a common problem....
I do have access to an engine hoist..
do I need to unbolt the transmission for this one???
A good source for V8 parts is Performance Automotive Warehouse www.pawinc.com They have all kinds of rebuild stuff. There prices are the cheapest i've found. The only downer is that you have to order their catalog. I think its about $6.
