Dual fuel pump EFI system
I am chasing down a hard cold start issue in my 88 bronco and wondering why Ford came up with the dual fuel pump EFI system,it just seems like there are too many parts that can go wrong and a pain it trying to figure it out. I might be gaining on the problem but will find out after it sits all night,I was thinking about converting it to the single pump system and wish I had done it.

The dual pump + switching valve was a transition from the low pressure system needed for a carbed motor to the high pressure system needed for EFI. Thankfully that mess only survived for a couple years and was replaced with the much simpler in-tank high pressure pump system by 1990. With the dual stage system that you have pressure problems are often traced to the switching valve.. assuming both pumps are working normally.
