2001 e350 7.3 calling all experts
my primary problem was loss of power while driving. everything pointed to a fuel problem but the entire fuel system was checked.
the problem took over a yr to diagnose and the truck was driven less than 500 miles in that period.
please read through the posts what you have explained does not seem like the same problem my truck was not really drivable
I no longer own the vehicle

I am NOT an expert but it sounds like you may have a turbo problem.I would suggest you start another thread with all off your symptoms and the guys here will definitely help you out.
my problem was very intermittent and I could tell the whole time it was electrical and not a mechanical problem.
I would honestly have to read the thread to remember all of the symptoms.
good luck to you hopefully it's something minor I never have had any major problems with any of my 7.3's
If you want an easy way to empty the tank, there is a fuel bowl that contains the filter which has a drain tube on the f series pickups. I believe the vans also have this feature. You can separately power the fuel pump and run a rubber hose from the bowl drain to buckets or fuel cans. Open the drain valve and voila!
Obviously every suggestion on this site is subject to consideration as to it's value to each owner. I consider the Hutch mod and cleaning up the fuel tank problems to be the beginning first steps toward longevity. If a job like this sounds too difficult to do yourself, any competent mechanic can follow the well written instructions. Larry
