What is your driving style?
Are you stock with stock tires?
Where do you get your fuel?

If you are empty most of the time and spend a lot of time in stop/go traffic with short trips, your truck may not be able to complete an active regeneration properly.
This will negatively affect MPG.

Have you ever received a "drive to clean exhaust" message?

Bad fuel
Plugged fuel filters
Plugged air filter
Low tire pressure
Altered/removed front air dam

Not to mention lift kits and larger/heavier tires, if your truck has them.

To give any accurate answers we need ALOT more info.

In the "for what it's worth" pile, my MPG was stuck between 12-14 for the first year. I also had an annoying off/on squeak from the front wheels. Long story short, my 5th visit to the dealership revealed that my front calipers were hanging and they replaced most of my front braking system....my MPG went up to 18-19 overnight. I just took a 1500 mile trip which included several hundred miles of the Blue Ridge Pkwy and averaged 19.8.

Hi Ken. Have you talked to your dealer about this? You should be in the 16-19 mpg range on summer fuel. (IMO)

Being stuck in regen will definitely destroy your fuel mileage. I agree with cirrus365; you should be getting much better mpg than what you are (with my 355 rear end, I get close to 19mpg overall). Is your odometer accurate? Mine was off 13 percent. Also, are you hand calculating versus relying on the computer? Mine is off but only by about .3mpg. All of these things can add up.

Try using a cetane booster, you may have crappy fuel in your part of the world.

Are your front hubs engaged? Confirm they're in the "auto" position.
Lift the truck and spin the wheels, make sure they are free.
Tires need to be 70psi.
Treat the fuel.
Reset the mpg and trip odometers, try again.

I get the mpg you describe when it's really windy, hilly, or driving a lot of stop and go. Mpg also gets very low when you idle for ten minutes. Any time you are running the engine and not moving the info on the screen will read lower mpg. Frequently this is a forgotten thing.

Sounds like you have a calibration issue, sensors are feeding info that makes your engine run too rich.

poor fuel mileage

Something sounds wrong with that kind mileage reading. I have had my 2011 F-250 Lariat Diesel FX-4 since December 2010 and have never got crummy mileage like that? Not towing I usually get about 11.4 litres per 100 and even city driving it might get to just over 12.3 litres per 100. That equals 19 to 21 miles per gallon American. Might get slightly less if the air conditioner is on but not near what you seem to be getting. My 6.7 beats my 6.0 litre Chev gasser I had previously by a lot. You need to get the dealer to figure out why the mileage is so poor? Gas is going up and don't need to empty your wallet filling it up. I can get over 800 kms on a full tank of diesel not towing. That equals to 500 plus miles on a tank of gas. I always to my best to keep it near full though.
I have the club cab short box....6.5 feet.

Get er fixed. What would be the mileage if you were towing? Definitely something is a miss.
