Dashlights optional

I am having problems with my dashlights. The problem is that the plug ins for the lights are completely stripped out, and the bulb holder (can't remember the name offhand) and the circuit board is also ripped up around the hole, thus, no dashlights. Had to jury rig a light on the column to see dash. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this one?

You're talking about the cluster back.

Yep, You can replace them.If you are near a wrecking yard you can get another just make sure it matches yours.

if you have gauges you need a back for gauges.
If you have idiot lights you need one for idiot lights.

Gauge backs take an 18 Pin plug
Idiot light backs take a 14 pin plug

Have a look here to see how to remove the speedo cable from the cluster.

There are many threads here about that "problem". The gist of it is that some people have been able to buy the plastic back section of the instrument cluster from Ford. Replacement instrument panels are plentiful in the scrap yard also. I forget the years that interchange but some of the threads here may have that info.
