so i finally had the problem of a plug blow out on me and the threads are gone, so im wondering what should i do, replace the heads 1,400.00 by my trusted mechanic or get a complete reman long block with a 7yr warranty for around 3,000.00?
i love this damn beast of mine and i plan on keeping it for a very long time or at least till i pull the trigger on a f-650 crewcab 4x4 or the raptor?so i wanna hear from my trusty and the select few who know what its like to own a excursion buddies lol.
so how reliable is this time-sert? cause im thinking that during the heating and cooling cycles overtime would weaken the contact between the time-sert and the aluminum head especially with the time-sert being a different metal compound then the aluminum they will expand and contract at different rates so then im back to where i started from with the time-sert with plug possibly blowing out of the head. now i know this might take a long time to happen but its just my thoughts.
Fix the plug and put aside money for new long block. One way or another you'll likely need a new motor at some point down the road. Get some more use out of current motor
Very reliable. Tried and true and used for many, many years now.

Nope. The Timesert inserts for the Ford's are made of aluminum, just like the heads.
Lock-N-Stitch won the contract to be the "official" Ford insert for repairing spark plug launchings, but Timeserts have been used for years before Lock-N-Stitch was approved, and still are being used.
so if its aluminum couldnt it strip out just like before?
If properly installed, no, they lock in.
The insert is a threaded bushing (threaded inside for the spark plug, and threaded outside to lock in to the cylinder head) that through the process of installing, locks into the hole from the bottom.
Another idea: This is what I did (granted I had a bad valve). I found a wrecked X with only 91k on it. The wrecking yard gave me 90 day warranty. Had it installed by a mechanic that did it on the side. I paid $1600 for the engine. Another $100 for fluids, gaskets and studs. He installed it for $500. An engine swap on these books at 10 hours.
