5 Basset Hounds, no one in their right mind needs any. You don't own them, they own you. Sweet, but very difficult to train. Are large dogs on short legs, have the largest bone mass of any dog.

Caesar Milan, the so-called "Dog Whisperer" went to Basset Rescue in Acton CA where there are 125 Bassets. He couldn't get any of them to do anything!

I don't know how to explain Rufuss.

3/4 pit bull - 1/4 Labrador Retriever.

Looks like nothing but a lop-eared labbie.

He doesn't play with ***** or any other toys, when he chews on things, they don't make any sence.

Got hold of one of my tool belts one night and tore up the plastic buckles, but left the huge rawhide pouches completely alone...
*I found him happily crunching the last half of the plastic snap-buckle apart in the middle of the living room floor in the morning

He could be locked up in Leavenworth and be out in 36 hours with no explanation of how he did it.

~In the last 7 days (SEVEN!) he has destroyed the heavy duty snap hook from his anchor chain, and FOUR metal choke chains to get loose at night

I always found him waiting for me by his water bowl and half eaten food in the morning

AND YOU CAN'T GET MAD AT HIM!
He is the sweetest and happiest puppy I've ever had, I just worry that a black dog on a country road is going to wind up a possum-like pancake some dark night

*I also taught him to howl whenever he hears sirens of any kind. Way beyond the range of my hearing, if I hear "Aaaarooooo-oooow..." from the front yard, I know something bad is going on somewhere

The "Rufuss-ness"

He's also kinda hard to take pictures of. He's got a permanent WIGGLE that resembles an answer to perpetual motion theories...

*You can even see it in him! "Total Mischief", in a small and efficient package

~ I tolja he was like me...

*His nose is covered with mud from digging out his daytime "COOL SPOT" deeper

Rick,

You got ALL THREE to sit down together?

Congratufriggin' Lations....

(It must be group reinforcement of training, is all I can figure)

Rufie is too much like me. Unpredictable individualist

And THAT is what I love about him the most

It does look better, besides being an unnecessarily cruel procedure!

I have my boss...a Chow Chow named Hannah...affectionately referred to as "Cujo". I rescued her 10 1/2 years ago...literally on her way to get the needle. She turned 12 yesterday...hips are going...eye sight is going...hearing is going...but...she's still a great companion. One of these days she will join the other "Puppies In A Can" on the coffee table. She'll let me know when it's time.

My signature says it all.

We have my 9y.o. Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and a year and a half old Black Headed Caique parrot.

The 6oz. parrot will hop off his perch and chase the pitbull around the house.
