I'm recently the proud owner on a 2004 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer with 85,000 miles on it. It is a 4x4, V-10 equipped truck with 3.73 rears. We bought it approximately 2 months ago and have not used it much to date. It needs tires and before I replace them I going to put a 5" superlift lift on it and then 35" tires. I'll get some pics up real soon.
My problem is that we took the X out today and went to use the AC and....nothing. My first thought was low Freon but then I noticed that the clutch was not engaging. I tried to spin the clutch and...nothing....can't even get it to budge. So my question is...what next? Does it mean the compressor is shot...or just the clutch?
Any suggestions? I read abouty jumping the switch but I'm afraid of it trying to engage a frozen clutch and then not disengaging.
Hmm, you grabbed the clutch and nothing moved at all? I just stepped into the garage, I can turn the clutch on mine. Almost sounds like the compressor is seized. Although I had one seize in the past and the clutch would still engage, sounded horrible with the grinding metal.
Sounds like a mechanic diagnostic is in the works, there could be other things causing your symptoms.
