First of all I wanted to thank all of you who have posted bumper builds in the past so I could figure out the best way to do mine.
Last night I started on a front bumper/grill guard for the family EX. I am basing it off of the road armor bumper and full grill guard (wish I had an extra $2300 around to just buy one).
I pulled the stock bumper off last night and built a cardboard pattern to later be used to cut out of 1/4" plate. Below are pics of the process.
I looked at many bumper builds on different forums prior to starting and most guys are building their bumpers by welding together multiple small individual pieces of plate. One build I found the guy built the bumper out of cardboard and tape then cut specific tape lines to make it possible to lay the cardboard out flat but yet only have 3 pieces for the entire front bumper. This is the plan I am going to try.
Do you have any pics? I am planning my bumper build for my 97 Ex 4x4 and I am like you trying to get ideas for looks and also learn pros and cons.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
I know it has been a while since starting this thread. I got frustrated trying to post pics and gave up. Well recently a few people have been interested in seeing the project.
I did finish it and it turned out great!
If anyone in willing to help post the pics to this tread, please PM me you email and I can email them to you if you will post them here.
