My wife burrowed the truck this morning drove it down the road and it quit at the stop sign. When she tried to restart it all she got was a check engine light and and a no "wait to start light" I have done all the things in prior threads said to be done. I have checked and replaced the green 30 amp fuse (even though it tested good) and I have the fuel bowl heater unplugged. I recently had my computer replaced and I reinstalled my DP tuner after it was checked by the company itself. I read that if a chip might be loose it might cause a No "wait to start" light? I haven't checked and I have to go to work, and after a couple posts Ill attempt to do something, you guys are the best and I have always fixed my truck with you guys putting me in the right direction. So were do I go from here? CPS?
Generally speaking the Wait to Start light is a dummy light on a timer from the PCM, it is the first indication that there is something wrong with either the PCM relay, diode, or PCM itself.
Given your situation, I would try removing the chip from the PCM, and see if it will start from there.
I was afraid of that, I took it to the stealership and had a rebuilt or reman PCM put in it not long ago, and didn't realize how easy it is to get a PCM and get it flashed for the fraction of the price they nailed me for.....so I got hosed. I hope its all okay with the chip off (which I had to pay to get redone also), I will post tomorrow with a update when I get a chance to look at it, thanks!
I pulled the chip, reinstalled, turned the key and the "wait to start" light appeared! Bad news are the batteries didn't have enough to turn it over long enough. So I'm putting them on trickle charge till tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well. I think the chip might have come loose from what I can tell all looks fine with the PCM and chip, but I'm leaving it out till I can be 100% on if this is the problem, Ill update asap.
Thanks for the support Bigalspsd!
Glad it appears to have worked out for you. The risk of a loose chip is that if conditions are right(wrong) you can fry the PCM, similar to installing a chip with the key in the ignition risk. Hopefully all is well.
Do you have any tape securing the chip to the PCM.
Well, it seems all is good. I did tape it but I used electrical tape and not duct tape as DP tuner had instructed. I will go for a reinstall later, just to eliminate that was the problem and not some other issue. Besides I need the truck to be in working order to many projects need to be done that it pertains too! Thanks again!
