My air bag light came on last month, turned out the kid was unhooking the connectors under the seat. It's strange being relieved and angry at the same time.
You can try to see if codes for the airbag light. Most of the chain auto parts stores will do this for free. Don't be shocked if it comes up as no codes. Some codes are manufacture specific and are not shown with the generic OBD II readers. Worth a shot though.
You should get the light to flash when your first turn the key to the on position. Count the number of flashes... there will be a slight pause between numbers.
