hello all. got a brain teser for ya.so here it goes.the truck i have in my shop came fron another shop to fix (it wasnt a diesel or general repair facility or steelership). the issue is it wount statr hot.air tested system ,found leakin hpop.fixed that and rechecked.found eals in the top of the injectors falled and the dummy plugs failed.resealed them and rechecked. no air leaks.that im sure of.during the hard start ipr press goes to 375 and stals within 50 psi up and down with ipr commanded to 85%.i do have base oil pressure.i guess ive got blinders on and cant see light at the end of the tunnel.oh yea,the truck came from the other shop after being there for 6 months getting head gaskets redone.and it still over heats in the bay. the owner is in a current law suite with the other repair facility.i know it has a bad oil cooler.have to get this tank going before i get to redo the head repair.thanks for any input.hope all had a great 4th
ok. no takers yet. little update.when hot i can crank on it and dont get enough oil pressure to move my gauge.when the truck starts i have 25 psi at idle and 95 psi at 2500 rpm. i figure that if the lpop was bad my pressure would be lower than what it is when hot.i can idle all day long and the lp oil press never drops below 20 psi. but you kill it and instantly try to restart i cant build any pressure. justa alittle more info to chew on.
Well Im thinking little diffrent on the LPO side of it
It should be regulated at 75psi LPO and for some reason I dont think the LPO actual PSI should Matter Hot or Cold (I know what you mean though hot oil less psi)
In my eyes the LPO Regulator should regulate at 75psi LPO
It just seams like the LPO is barly able to keep up
Wonder if a lifter bearing went threw the LPO Pump
Might be worth pullen LPO reg and LPO Pump gears for a Look
maybe the Oil Pickup tube is half plugged with junk
its a 05. i must admit that i tryed cuting corners,i tapped the eot instead of the eop sensor.figured that they both should give me the same result.guess not. when i tapped the eop port i have 10 psi at 250 rpm when its acting up.the oil pressure reg has been shimmed to in crease oil pressure.the only thing that hasnt been changed is the ipr.i have tested 3(what i thought and still might be good) ipr's.when i graph the ipr press.,icp volt when it starts correctly my ipr and icp volts spike then it starts.when its hot the ipr grad. goes to 300 and rollercoasters to 375 then 300.i might be going the wrong direction.just tired and cant think straight.
Is it just me, but I totally didn't understand any of what was posted? So are we low on ICP psi or low pressure oil? What is your ICP actual versus ICP desired and IPR duty indicating when the truck does actually run? I'm pretty sure I speak English well enough that most of you guys who know me, understand me pretty well.
dude your a tech charging people for what you know, maybe time to head back to school?
man ive been in the same trinch as you.have all the certifications that ford required.i havnt charged anything to the customer .im not a idiot.just got one bitting my a##.if you havnt had one do it to you yet then you havnt done enough or been in it enough.dont judge me man.you dont even know me.
A little tip for you , the stealership word is probably why the techs on here will not answer your ????? . JMHO
i spent 21 years in the dealership world.i left because i would go to give a repair request to the service adviser to get with the customer that would be 400$,he would always say that the car/or truck needed 5 times that .a car that a old lady would drive 4 times a week dosnt need a complete front end repair or a tranny overhaul when it only has 15k on the odometer.there are a lot of good dealer tech on her that i appreciate and arnt throwing any stones.just like someone calling me a shade tree mechanic.dont hurt my fealing cause i know that im not.and the steerership thing goes to the place they work not the individual techs that work there.they take pride in there work.i just wish the dealership would do the same for them and show there appreciation to them more often.

when hot commanded icp is 650 on my tool.actual is 300-350.ipr duty cycle is at 85%.
if you have resealed every thing and are sure you have no leaks its time for a block off test. if that passes then run the motor on 4 cyclinders at a time to narrow down to bank. if still nothing look for low volume from pump
