VGT Question
I'm fairly new to the 6.0 altho I've already replaced a head, oil cooler and added a coolant filter in less than 6 months. Expensive learning curve...
The truck had 155K and an EGR delete when I bought it and my mechanic that did the repairs said the engine was "chipped". I'm not sure if that means it's got a performance tune or just modified for the EGR, but don't get an error code for the EGR delete. I don't have a tuner, just a Scangauge II.
My question is about the Variable Geometry Turbo. When idling you can hear it open and close intermittently. Is this normal or do I have a problem? I understand it would change under load, but why at idle?

Ford introduced a cycle at idle to keep the unison ring from sticking.
