Horsepower

I recently bought a 1979 f150 and am relatively new to the 4x4 world. I just want some opinions on how well 4x4's handle horsepower and torque rather than 2wd. I want to put some engine work in and make it fun! Any thoughts?

'Depends how you drive it. .. Beat it mercilessly like an adulterous wife and you'll find the weakest link somewhere in the drivetrain.. clutch, input shaft, trans, T-case, U-joints, driveshafts, yokes, ring gears, axles.

Maintain and drive it sanely and be rewarded with longevity.

Yeah, that applies to a lot of vehicles. My main concern is the drivetrain. I wanna build up the engine and maybe put a little nitrous in there just to get silly lol

Yeah, well ya asked... your OP wasn't very specific. Stay conservative with the NOS and it should be okay... a 50- to 75-shot is doable for short durations.

You working with a 351/400M? Or did a PO bless it with 460??
