Shock Travel *Updated with pics*

I purchased some new Rancho 9000XLs while the rebate was still in effect. My truck is stock height up front, however I purchased the shackles to level it soon. When I bought the front shocks, I ordered the ones for a 2.5" level up front...My question is, since I don't have the truck leveled yet, will this cause a problem if I install the slightly taller shocks? I don't want to damage the shocks internally if they are on a stock height truck. I'm just to eager to wait for the shackles to arrive and want to see the difference in the ride quality!

...and Happy 4th!

If you install the shocks now, how much more compression is left in the shock before it bottoms out. Riding around with it compressed a bit more because you haven't leveled it yet won't hurt anything. Driving around and having the shock bottom out in a dip will ruin them rather quickly.

That's a good question. I'll have to go put one on to see what it looks like. Just waiting for the sun to go down a little more

Here's a couple pics with it held next to the old shock. It looks like theres a few inches of travel but not sure if it's enough

What's the compressed length of the standard shock in comparison to the Rancho?

That's probably enough if you stay on pavement and take it easy, but is it worth the risk?

Not sure on the compressed length. I'll measure it tomorrow when I pull it off. I think you're right. Probably not worth the risk. I'm just anxious to see how it rides with the new ones haha
