Fuel Pressure Question

My fuel pressure gauge always reads about 58 psi, even when the truck is off, at all speeds. Is this right or should it bleed down after not running for several days ? TIA - Bill

It should bleed down. When you turn the key off, your gauge will not register though. Mine bleeds pressure in about 30 seconds after shut down. If your key is on, it will hold pressure until the pump shuts off.

You may have a slightly stuck FPR.

What gauge are you using?

- Ken - Its a EV2 - It has done this since new & I never questioned the bleed down - Just figured that was normal. I am installing the frx in the next week or so whenever this heat breaks, will this help ? How can I test the fpr ?

Yes the FRX will help! It will replace the the factory fuel pressure regulator. You will see a higher pressure setting.IIRC Clay has it set at 65psi on the FRX.

Good deal - Thanks Brad - Ive got a pretty good days work coming up - Clay sent me new cac boots, frx, and ebpv delete & new o-rings for turbo. My first time pulling the turbo so should prove a learning experience. Any tips from the pro's much appreciated.

I'd turn the key on and let it sit for 60 seconds. The fuel pump will cycle off in about 20 seconds and the remaining time should let pressure bleed off if it's going to. Then open the drain valve on the fuel bowl and see if it sprays out like it's at 58 psi or see if the pressure will drop on the gauge. You might have a faulty gauge.

Faulty gage or sender. No way the fuel pressure would be 58 pounds after not driving for days. I have the ev2 gage and the second the pump stops running the pressure drops quickly.

I was afraid it might be gauge or something cause I can go out after truck sits for 5 or 6 days & without even putting the key in the ignition it is still at 58 psi. When I start it or get on it there is no change at all.

Where is your sender mounted? Also does the pressure change if you drive? WOT runs should show a pressure drop for a few seconds. It may only 5-8 psi, but it should move the gauge some. If not, I would look at the idea the sender is faulty. More common than the gauge going bad.
