Tach reads backwards??

Tach reads backwards??
Guys, coming back from the landfill tonight, noticed my tach was starting out below 8g on idle, then slowly working it's way backwards to about 6500 or so at 50 mph. Seems like it would be about right if it was at 0 then went up to 1500 at 50 mph when normal. I just noticed this, don't know how long it's been like this, what could be the culprit?? It's dark now, I'll have to glance at the wiring in the morning. Thanks and later, Blair

Tach reads backwards??
Blair, the polarity has somehow reversed. I would suspect maybe the wiring plug into the tach, or a fault in the tach itself.
I gave mine a good spray of WD-40 last year, when it started registering 1/2 rpm. That worked for me.
