I couldnt figure out how to PM Numberdumy, so i'll just start a new thread.
I have a VIN for a 1st generation Econoline Falcon Van. I've been told its a 1964, 1965, and a 1967. I'm inclined to believe the 1967 becuase from what little i know about the VIN, it at one point had a 240ci in it (probably still does, havent seen the van in about 6 years)
anyhow, the VIN is R12AHB54916
ive never seen one that starts with a R... but maybe it actually means something?

R you sure that the first letter is an R? If it were an E, then here is what you have
1967 model year E100
E12 is an Econoline Falcon Custom Club Wagon
A is 240 cui I6 engine
H is Lorain, Ohio assembly plant
assembled in July 1967
Did you get this number from the door plate, tail light bracket, floor near engine, or the title paper?

Well to be brutally honest, this van is currently in Montana and I'm in Maryland. I'm planning a road trip in August to go get it, put it on a trailer and truck it all the way back. I've owned the van since 2004, and it's been sitting for about 30 years and needs some love.
However, back to the VIN, the guy who owns the field the van is sitting in (Ed) was the one who procured the VIN for the van. I'm not sure which location he read it off of, but it's most likely an E rather then a R.
Another question, is there anything rare or special about a Falcon Custom Club Wagon? I knew it was a falcon window'd van, but does the custom mean anything different? Or did they all get the "Custom" moniker?

There were three levels of trim in the passenger vans for 1967.
Falcon Club Wagon was the basic passenger van.
Falcon Custom Club Wagon was the middle trim level and added the side moulding.
Falcon Deluxe Club Wagon was the highest trim level.
All three of these came in regular-length van and extended-length van.
There were 1,538 of the regular-length Custom Club Wagon made in 1967.
There were 2,063 of the extended-length Custom Club Wagon made in 1967.
Falcon Club Wagon was the basic passenger van.
Falcon Custom Club Wagon was the middle trim level and added the side moulding.
Falcon Deluxe Club Wagon was the highest trim level.
All three of these came in regular-length van and extended-length van.

So, there is no way I can answer everyone's parts questions or decode all their VIN's. I spend very little time in this forum, as it's not very active.
Besides, I now have another non paying job, volunteer/docent on the battleship USS IOWA now berthed in the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro harbor).
Will open to the public July 7th as an interactive museum. So, I'm not spending anywhere near as much time on FTE that I once did.
