Post wreck suggestions.
Drivers side front fender
Hood
Front bumper
Drivers side headlight and park light
Cowl (broke in the middle above the hood)
Wheel well liner
Grill isnt really broke but it is cracked where the park light was pushed into it
Suspension looks visibly ok but the drivers wheel is leaning inward at the top so atleast an alignment even though it drives fairly straight when I let loose of the steering wheel. Is there any suspension parts that would stand out to replace since the wheel took such a good hit.
So what I want to do, we wanted to put an 05 grille (painted black) along with the updated clear 05 style headlights, is since I got to buy almost everything anyway to just buy a newer style headlight kit and grille. Just the looking around that I have done I can ebay that or either get the lights and grille from mkmcustoms.com cheaper than what a body shop would pay for an oem replacement.
I have a $1000 deductable anyway and my mother in law is offering to cover what needs to be paid for before the insurance takes over (the accident happened doing some errands for her so she is feeling guilty that it wouldnt have happened otherwise). What I see happening is Monday we have to goto the police station to pick up the report to take to the insurance which will in turn send out an adjuster. The adjuster will rough calculate damage and deduct our grand from the tally and more than likely cut a check or have a body shop bill them. Either way I/we are out a grand in parts. I want to go ahead and buy what I know I can get cheaper and already have it ordered and in the mail instead of waiting on the papertrail since I am gonna have the end of next week after our vacation to do some work. I am going to check out the suspension better this weekend and then if nothing stands out have an alignment shop realign and go over it since thats the only thing that concerns me about driving it on the trip being suspension damage if any. Atleast Id have peace of mind there. A body shop can order the bumper, fender and hood and paint it and then bolt it on and I can do the grill/headlight myself. Does this sound like the way to go or should I just let the body shop/insurance make the call before I do anything. Thanks.
Also here is the post with pics about the accident.
