emergency cable routing
Just wondering if anyone knows exactly where the cable passes through the firewall before it attaches to the handle on a 56 F100? A picture would be most helpful.

On my 54 it lays against the floorboard above the steering column and runs thru the transmission cover at the front left corner. The floor board and transmission cover have a indent that forms a low angle hole. I used a piece of heater hose to seal it. I suppose someone makes a foam seal.

It doesn't pass through the firewall at all...it comes up through the transmission cover opening. Take a look at the floor panel around the transmission access opening and at about 11 o'clock you will see an indent...that's for the cable to pass through.

Yea, I wanted to weld my tranny cover like I did the battery cover to avoid the bolted seam but didn't want to figure out how to get the cable thru the floor so I left it original.
So how is the speedo cable routed.
