Hood insulation anchors are supposed to melt in case of an underhood fire, and the insulation is supposed to act as a fire blanket to smother the flames. May or may not work. My old truck didn't have one, and it didn't seem like it was much louder because of it, so I don't think there's a whole lot of sound-deadening qualities.

The sensor with the boost hose going to it mounted by the A/C box is the MAP sensor. Senses boost pressure for the PCM.
