I have an 06 with the 6.0, and it threw me a check engine light last night. I'd like to read the code. I have a code reader for the OBD II, will this work on this truck?
One sure way to find out. Plug it in and see what it says. I don't think it's possible for it to hurt anything if it says OBDII on the device or in it's manual. If it says ther are 3 codes and it only shows you what 1 of them is, you'll know it's not reading manufacturer specific info.
I had one of those, a 3130 I think, it had the ABS feature and "emission readiness test". It read codes ok but no "live data" so I sold it to a guy at work. It read the manufacturer specific codes but didn't have definitions on the screen, It would display the code and you would have to look them up online or whatever.
The cylinders of the 6.0L Power Stroke are numbered from the front on the right side 1, 3, 5, 7 and from the front on the left side 2, 4, 6, 8. So front cylinder passengers side. Check harness for chaffing I think the alt mount on the intake is close at the injector end. How many miles on the truck?
