Here we go again

2001 7.3 auto 4x4. Last time it acted up and died I got a lot of great help and now I need it again. Going down the road at 70 and rattle-rattle-bang. Out goes the rear half of the driveline. No problem, pull the other half, lock in hubs and limp home. One mile down road, sputter-sputter-die. It has new icp switch, pulled ipr valve and cleaned like last time, reinstalled and no go. Edge is throwing P1212 code still after clearing, cleaning and trying. New batteries, serviced 500mi. ago with rotella full synthetic. Could there be a relation of something getting knocked when d-line exited?? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried with the ICP sensor unplugged? That should use default values to the PCM.

Make sure the battery connections are clean and tight. What about the oil level?

Too easy to wait till morn. No help, no start. But now throwing p1280 code. Just remembered, when it died, there was a p0000 code. Can't find any info on that one.

Do you have a way to view live data? The p0000 means there are not any codes? If you immediately got that code after it died, you might have lost power to the PCM. Are you getting a Wait to Start light?

Yes, the wait to start lite is as usual, about 5 seconds. And the service engine lite comes on during wait to start.

Where did you get the CPS? Did you try removing the Edge to see if something went wronge with it?

There are a few things to try here.

OK, pulled and cleaned ipr again. Checked and swapped fuses. Pulled Edge out after returning to stock. Unhooked batterys to reset everything. Oil level good. Oil level in HPOP reservoir 3/4" down from top of housing. Tried with icp switch unplugged. Getting some smoke from pipe. just wont start.

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction now, either find the restriction if you haven't done the hutch mod, now would be a good time. Otherwise looks like you could be in need of a pump.

What is your fuel level at? 1/4 tank or below by chance?

I am thinking that the slip yoke smacking the tank shield knocked a ton of stuff loose and could have plugged the in tank filters. it has 240K miles and I have had it for 125K of them and have never pulled tank. I have about 3/8 tank of fuel
