AC not cooling

Hey guys I've been having a problem with my AC not cooling to good at highway speeds. When I'm idling it blows cold but when I get up to speed it blows kinda cool but not cold. I have to keep it on max and blower wide open and it's still not very comfortable. I've tried the air gap adjustment and the closest I could get mine was .023. Any help would be appreciated. It's already getting to 105 degrees down here so I gotta have my AC lol!

How is your airflow out of the vents? If it is not blowing very hard, your evaporator core is blocked. You will have to crack open the plastic housing and wash it out with a water hose to get it clean. Sounds like the symptoms you have. Good luck.

If your gap is good, you may need a new clutch. The solenoid could just be weak nd hen it eats up the resistance gets higher so it is even weaker.

I just had the same issue and it was due to a clogged radator. Mine would cool but not cool well. I replaced the radator but you could take it out and clean it.

No I'm getting good air flow it's just not very cold unless I'm idling. I might try to clean it anyway just to be sure. Whats the best way to go about doing that? I've been looking at the heater core bypass mod but I haven't done it yet. Probably try it in the next few days.

If you use a pressure-washer to clean the A/C condenser, be careful not to bend/destroy the fins doing so... you might just ease the sprayer near the condenser and flush it from a distance.

Powerstroke, you can access the evap core by pulling the blower motor under the hood and looking inside to the right. You can take a water hose with a pistol grip nozzle and wash it clean. I used a mirror to look at the whole thing to be sure it was clean. Good luck.

From what I've read the clutch shim adjustment mod would help with that situation. Don't have the link handy but google springer pops f350 and it tells you how to do it. Good luck bud.

Oh and appreciate it rustyculley. I'll give that a try tomorrow afternoon when I get off. Also bought the ranger cutoff valve and will try to install tomorrow as well. Hopefully I will run across something in all of this that will fix it. And while we are on the subject, does anyone know what my pressures should be on my high & low sides. Guy I work with has a set of gauges and I'm going to hook them up tomorrow just to see what kind of readings I get

20 to 30 psi on the low side and 150 to 200 on the high side. but these pressures are relivent to ambient temp. Most 134a systems rely on a fill cap. to determine state of charge. That means from a vacuum to a measured fill to determine if it is full.
Here is a temp chart.
