I guess I'm lost. Or have been napping, although it sure doesn't feel like I've been napping right now as today is catching up with me. Anyway, I read Chris' 8-page post and now know what you are talking about. However, I'm still having a hard time understanding how that could be a hydro-lock. Maybe the PCV system wouldn't let enough air escape rapidly enough to let the pistons move at cranking speed?

I'm not saying it IS a hydro-lock, I'm saying it would have hydro-lock symptoms. Ergo, the motor not wanting to turn over because it's full of fluids in the unnecessary places.

Heat getting to you, Gary?

EDIT:

I also wondered why the gas and oil wouldn't go other places. One of those mysteries I guess.

Not really. Didn't seem short to me.

Yes, I think the heat may be getting to me! It was a looooong day, but at least I was working in the shop with the air on. As posted in WHYDTYTT, a friend and I changed out the exhaust system on his Vette and it took some time to say the least. The video of a guy doing it ran for 8 min's and 55 seconds, but it took us 8 hrs 55 mins.

Yes, I see now that you aren't saying it IS a hydro-lock, but that it SEEMS like one. Anyway, I'll bet that engine was CLEAN inside with all that agitation going on.

I had this same issue with my 300. But after putting a second clear fuel filter right in front of the fuel pump, that held enough gas to get it started. Kicks right over every time now. You should give that a try. $5 and about five minutes of your time.

Thanks for the hint

I'm having the same problem. The fuel keeps draining out of the system. Meanwhile, I'm having to crank the battery and I keep killing it.

The fuel pump is new, and maybe the check valve in it is bad. That's my first fix try. If that doesn't work, I'm going with another fuel filter like you suggest. Then it's a carb rebuild, which I really don't want to do!

My truck is for sale if anyone wants it! I love it, but we're moving overseas.

Curious - What part of "central OK" are you in? I'll send you a PM re that.

Edit: I see you don't have enough posts for PM's. Having lived overseas myself, and living in OK when we moved awa now, I'm curious. If you want to discuss it you can contact me via email.
