Which spark plugs.

Since we are fixing to take our trip I was thinking of changing the sparkplugs since I dont know when they were changed by the previous owner. It isnt running bad but was going to retorque them (around 20 lbs right??) so I figured I might as well put new ones in since Im almost doing the job anyway. Is there one that is better or what seems to be the median that you guys run in the V10. Thanks.

Stick with Motorcraft or Autolites.

I used autolites from NAPA and changed the boots also. I would read up on some of the suggestions in the V10 forum. I coated the ceramic portion of the plug with silicone, used anti-seize on the threads, and torqued the plugs to 20-25 lbs. I changed all 10 plugs my first time in about 1-1/2 hours working at a moderate pace.

All of them. Torque is 14 pounds without anything on them. I never torque mine or put anything on them but that's just me and they are always fine.

Saw some Autolite Platinums $4.74 per 2 pack. Is this the same ones as Napa? Walmart also had Bosch but those were the only 2 brands. Am I going overkill by changing them even though it seems to run fine since I dont know how old they are? Thanks again for all the info.

Just change 'em all for peace of mind. While you're in there on your stomach and bustin' knuckles replace all those COP boots too. Even cheaper insurance.

Before attempting #5, send the wife and kids out on a errand, turn on your favorite tunes (one that really make you feel good), consume 12oz of your favorite beverage (happy feeling , but just 12, not 24oz), limber up with some streching exercises - then proceed.

Pull one of the easy ones from the front and have a look. If they're still clean and have enough diode left, then I'd let them go for a while and check again. After you've seen that first one, they really aren't any more intimidating than any other engine. Your dealing with aluminum heads with a limited number of threads, just make sure the engine is cold and be careful not to over torque them. I use compressed air to blow out the debris from the holes after pulling the boots, but b4 removing the plug.

Good advice but just put a little grease on the end of the spring, too much will only attract dirt etc. Change them and do it all in one shot with no distractions.
