may get another 12 inches of rain.we live about 3 miles from the beach
and they say that high tide has not come yet.we have a retention pond
behind us & it has at least 4-5 ft of water in it.we have lived here
11 yrs & never seen it this bad.about3 miles away from us there was a
50 ft wide x 25 ft deep sinkhole, the house was on the edge of the sinkhole
the people had to get out as the house was starting to slide.sure hope
that it stops, but they say more rain for the next few days
Been watching the radar in your area to see how it will effect us to the north of you and looks like your getting a drenching. I've been through several tornado's here in Alabama, the last put us out of power for 5 days so I feel for you. Stay safe and don't take any chances.
Hope things let up soon. We have a place in Parkwood Acres (just a few miles from you off hwy 52 at Bayonet Point) that we only use in the winter so I hope its still there. Have you heard any new about trees down or flooding in that area? I was down last month to cut the grass but we are not planning on being back down from Canada until September. There are a couple of large trees with limbs overhanging the house so I hope everything is still in one piece!
Hang in there Bob! It's interesting that they keep forecasting for it to turn left & hit Louisiana or Texas. I think we know where it's going - It's already ashore in Florida! Radar looks rough over there - keep your head down.
Thanks for your reply regarding the state of things down there. I tried to use the link on the forum to send an email back but it said I didn't have privileges. I've sent an email directly to the address you provided and hope it gets through.
Good luck, and leave if you can. We got Ike two years ago and trees down everywhere, tornadoes, and our 100 year old house was shaking. We lost parts of the roof, but avoided major damages. No electricity for 3 weeks, but do have a generator. But it was really hard to get gas for it. Next one, I am leaving!
I just checked radar all the way down the Carribbean, and it looks to be improving. Not saying we're out of the woods yet, but it appears to be diminishing. 10.25" of rain here since Saturday...
