Anybody stuffed a 7.3PSD into an early 80's bullnose f150 ?

this will be my project for my beast. wanna make it absolutely true to its name. trans can take it... same transfer case as my f350 already on it...

what all you guys think i will need to do to the front end? im fully going into it with torch and welder if need be... cab and bed are coming off... Jim inspired me.
im fully prepared for anything i have to do to it as far as tooling goes.

i would prefer not to lift it more than about 6" over stock.. its sitting on 4" blocks currently with 31x10.50r15 and im thinkin about setting her up on 35's.

opinions? words of wise experience? (not asking for opinions whether this should, or should not be done)

my idea is to turn it into a toy/super sucker hauler and run both my 7.3's on vegi.
i really cant see it being any more difficult than having a 7.3 shipped to south africa, and stuffing it in a jap bronco wanna be.

my trans and tcase are monsters... i can fab anything i need to mount the engine...
im just looking for specific issues that anyone can lend pointers on.

other nay sayers please dont even bother posting. im not asking wether it should be done... thats a matter of opinion... and as far as this project goes... sorry but i dont care about yours. i have already made my mind up to do it... it makes sense to me to only have to worry about 1 engine to get parts for. that way any spares i have will work for both my trucks. and ive never seen a f150 with a diesel in it.

I think you will want to reinforce the frame on that F150. The early to mid eighties frames were crap (at least on the F250's and 350's)

yah im planning to reinforce the crap out of the front end/engine cradle

and where necessary i will chop out and refab the firewall to fit the exhaust.
if height is an issue... ill refab the hood. might even get 3d with it. something akin to hog nostrils for scoops?

Have you thought about putting the bullnose body onto a superduty chassis?

I think you will have plenty of room. The front clip and cab of the 150 is same as 250/350. Cab is basically the same all the way through 97 IIRC.

find a95 -97 7.3 f350 chassis and drop your cab and bed onto it
...done
not discouraging you but in order to power with a 7.3 you need all the computers and wiring anyway (aka parts truck) so why not do it the easy way

because its the easy way... and my desire to make a monster outweigh the difficulty and cost. i appreciate the idea... and even contemplated it for about thirty seconds.
i would lose my wheelbase, and sick turning radius... which is a big part of what makes that trucks personality.
found a good way of putting it in the bullnose forum
after so many years of faithful service these old trucks deserve the time and effort it takes to pull off something like this.

will definitely be a force to be reckoned with at the track.

p.s.

what would your reaction be if an old bullnose f150 pulled up next to you at the light with that big ol' 38r chirpin.
