Yea its dynamated, I'm talkin about the sound coming out of the pipe, like I say it has a blowing sound to it like a blow dryer from the turbo but there is little difffernce on decibels without that muffler. The rattle of the engine is far and away noisier than than exhaust.

It would surely open up you flow not kinkin around in that muffler. I would try it first and you tell me what the difference is. It's a deeper tone, louder not much

Dont know if that tune will have any affect on exhaust sound.

I would guess a stock sized pipe to be louder.

A 4" pipe has nothing for backpressure that exhaust is not moving very fast on its way out.

Are there any others with 4" straight pipe you can get a opinion on their take.

Engines Louder

Mine is straight piped and its only loud when you get above 2500 rpm. It really screams at WOT but nothing compared to a gasser. Low rpm you cant even hear the exhaust cause the engine itself is so damn loud.

When I raced my friends jeep which has no muffler I couldn't hear my exhaust AT ALL over his. I was kind of disappointed lol.

I have a 4" turbo back kit. I have a muffler on mine. When I installed the muffler delete it wasn't terrible at idle and below 2,000rpm. When the truck gets higher than that or you get into the throttle it is LOUD.

I agree with that, I have been behind my truck and all I hear is a exhaust blow thats about it. Now granted the wife didnt hit WOT so hell I don't know specifically what that sounds like behind it.

I'm going to get some couplers and spare 3.5" pipe....then pop the muffler out. that way if it's too loud I can simply put right back in...or leave out.

now to just find the necessary parts without getting raped by local shops or s/h charges

Just make sure you like the work on the pipe that replaced the muffler, my guess is you won't be putting that muffler back on. I have a buddy who put straight pipe on his and it was surprising to me how quiet it was for no muffler. Was first thing I did to my truck!
The exhaust is really quiet at idle and normal acceleration is more of a whooosh sound,I call it exhaust blow but noisy no! WOT is gonna be louder but not as much as you would think, my guess is the turbo must disrupt a lot of the ignition noise on these diesel engines because a gas engine with no muffler is not tolerable but these diesels almost cant tell the difference.
The cat seems to quiet them down more than the mufflers do.
Again I have 4" all the way with a 6" tip.
I can't wait to get your opinion on it Tylus,my guess is your performance will improve just because of what Gearheads recomendations for SRL are with intake and sraight pipe to perform best.

Will be watching this post...............

MBRP Muffler Delete Pipe Steel 4" Dia 30" Length Chevy GMC Dodge Ford EA 882963101013 | eBay

need to find some 3.5" OD to 4" ID adapter...and then a 4" ID to 3.5" OD to make it fit with the delete pipe. not to shabby for about $100 all said. Probably should check and see what a muffler shop will charge

Last shop I had work done at charged me $150 to weld up my offroad H pipe on the Mustang. No fabrication. Just 4 simple joint welds

I'm scared to hear quotes for a muffler delete.

First thing I did to my truck was a muffler delete at a shop here in VA. Cost $90 to cut out and replace muffler with a 3.5 inch pipe (stock exhaust). Barely any turbo whistle at idle but decent rumble at WOT with windows down, couldn't really tell a difference with windows up.

A few months ago I did a cat delete myself. First one I ordered was suppose to fit stock exhaust but didn't so ran around (under 25 miles) in two days with just the turbo down pipe and you talk about loud, the drown inside the cab was awful but the looks I got in town was hilarious. Next one fit and like said earlier, can't hear the sound inside the truck until the torque converter locks up and your at or above 2500rpm or your at WOT. I love the sound but only obnoxious at WOT. My old jeep 4.7 with a 40 series flowmaster was unbearable over 55mph, the 6.0 is a prius cruising compared to it. Grant it I'm young and this will be my only "look at me" add on, no plans for lift or other external add ons.

Obviously the choice is up to you but I would recommend to anyone that has a 6.0 to straight pipe it.

Shipping is easy to get around. I can ship to sis/aunt in Austin and they'll send to me. Annoying, but still decent price sometimes

You'd be amazed at number of imbeciles who say Hawaii and Alaska are not part of USA

On my cell, but found adapter pipes for 3.5" to 4" that'll do the trick. About $95 for all the parts and shipping to Texas. Add another $20 or so to get to me. Going to price out local shops this weekend and see how they compare
