I have been chasing the vibrations out of this truck for a year now. I have found the source of the (I believe) final vibration I have been chasing. Two out of round and slightly off true wheels. This, despite multiple balancing, and positions swaps. Finally had a tire tech point it out to me.
I have found, when looking for the vibration,
Bad rear drive line u-joints
Bad front drive line u-joints
Bad center bearing
Bad tire (replaced for free)
Bad front axle u-joints R & L
Bad hub bearings R & L
Bad rear axle bearings right side (Left replaced also)
Bad fan clutch
Bad wheels (3 of them, including spare)
Frozen R & L rear brake calipers
The above has resulted in front and rear axle rebuilds (both hub to hub), front and rear drive line rebuilds, complete (hub to hub) rear brake job, and tire checks galore. Maybe the truck will ride smoother after I replace the wheels tomorrow. Finding and fixing the problems is fun to me, because it is not my full time job.
Had the same thing on my 2006 E-350 van when it was new. They couldnt find the problem after about 4 trips in for balancing & switching tires around -They finally found that 3 of the 4 wheels were out of round. Musta had a bad machine making them . They changed them out & all was good. I was lucky it was all in warranty.- Like Barney said ,Reps for sticking with it till you got it squared away !!
New wheels, vibration gone except when I apply brakes. I've already done the rear brakes, time to do the front. I'll try to get a pic up in the next few days. The truck looks SWEET with new wheels.
My somewhat dirty truck. The wheels are new, new tires will come later. The steps and the front air dam are going to get black bed liner on it later. I plan on getting black truck boxes under the bed as well. Sorry about the glare on the windows from the sun.
