Alright guys, I tried searching and though I found a few posts that were similar but my problem is unique to the others. My pedal is very soft, however, at the floor the brakes still engage and will stop me in a decent distance but not nearly as well as before. No loss of fluid, no leaks my front pads are still pretty meaty. I'm waiting on some penetrating catalyst to set in so I can take my back wheels off to check the drums but I'm kinda lost. A few folks have been leaning towards air being in the lines but I'm unsure how that would have happened. I had the rear end open recently to replace some spiders and thats it. I didn't even think about the brakes while I was doing this. Can't have no brakes in the mountains, thats a no no.
P.S. Anyone in the Boone,NC area?
until you can see what your rear drums look like we cant speculate.
ps, go into the control panel and fill out your signature with your rigs info this way we know what your driving and wont have to ask. it helps us help you.
I had it all set up when I was driving the LBF but I bought the bronco right before my move to Boone so its been hectic, I will get at that ASAP. Thanks for all your help btw, my name is Tyler.
You could have a vacuum leak or a bad booster. My Bronco does the same thing but it has new brakes all around, I just think the booster needs replaced.
Haha i think everyone's brakes do this once in a while. Mine come within an inch of the floor but i am 51% positive it is worn pads and shoes cause the squeal after getting warm. I will eventually get around to checking them... Maybe someday.
if the booster is leaking vac the pedal would be harder. do you hear any hissing from inder the dash when the brakes are applied and held? if the booster was leaking bad enough it would prolly throw a code for a rich condition. my 96 did the same when the rear shoe linings came apart it was pushing the wheel cylinders out so far they started leaking and pedal went to the floor. i was at least trailering my car i had to use trailer brakes all the way home lol wasnt fun when people were cutting me off lol
I haven't been able to get my lugs loose on the damn thing. Rusted up pretty good I'm guessing. Waiting untill I can get all new lugs because I'm sure I will end up breaking all/ if not most of them, what should I look for when I do?
