What is better/ cheaper? I have an F150 work truck 2 wheel drive. I haul alot of mulch and rock. I also pull a trailer with lawn equipment. The rear saggs very bad. What is the better way to stiffen my rear springs? Add a leafs I know are cheap, but what are my options and what is best?
Does your truck sag with no load, or just loaded? If it does it unloaded, then you should consider replacing the stock springs with new ones. If it's only when loaded, there are lots of options. You could get coil-over shocks, but they stiffen up the ride with no load. You can do the add-a-leafs, but they also stiffen the ride. I have the type of overload springs on my F150 that bolt on top of the regular springs and don't touch anything until the back drops 3 or 4 inches. Then they kick in and add the extra strength. They don't affect the ride when I'm empty.
I think the bestway to solve your problem is to add Timbren helpers, the truck will ride the same, but with aload on it won't sag. check them out at http://www.timbren.com/
I put them on my 4x4 after removing the two inch spacer blocks to level the truck, and to keep it level with my 5ver camper on with about 7oo# tung weight.
well i'd take a different approach here...i'd go with a set of airbags added into your rear suspension...pump them up when you need them...deflate them when you dont'.
I have had these Timbren Rubber for a couple of years, and when you travel and drop you trailer, and you need to use the p/u to go for a ride like up a mountain pass, you need the truck to ride smooth and comphey and when you go back to the camp an p/u yur trailer, you don't need to look for an airline to puff up airbags, and if you have a self contained airpump, you need airlines that sometimes need to be looked after for leaks etc.
My Timbrens are touble free and don't touch the axle when not in use and can go thru all types of bad weather and road salt without anykind of maintenace.
