Greetings! I have a 66 F250 Camper Special with a 352. Recently, I was poking around under the dash trying to figure out why the cigar lighter wasn't working. In the process I pulled the instrument cluster out (not completely, just removed the screws and pulled it as far forward as possible). In the process one of the wires going to the ALT meter arced against the metal on the dash. I taped the spot up, but ever since I notice that the ALT and OIL lights are light all the time when the key is in the OFF or ACC position. Also, everything is hot all the time, as if the key is on. The radio will stay on, even with the key out of the ignition, and it was never wired to be hot full time. So, I switched out the ignition switch, thinking something had gotten fried when the wired arced, but the situation remains the same. I even tried pulling each of the fuses, but the lights stayed on. Any ideas what else I can check? Thanks! - Pat
I would certainly check the amp circuit, there's a heck of alot of amps running to your instrument cluster and don't want to risk damaging. Check the wiring for any cracks and either repair or replace the wire from junction/fuse block to gauge. Suggest check the connections at the junction block usually located on the passengerside inner fender. There are 2-3 variations to the amp circuit, I purchased a 50 amp fuse block and installed it inline w/ the circuit. Don't know if you have wiring diag. may want to consider purchasing only cost $7. Here's a link to couple diag. from wiring manual.

Could be the fuse, could be the lighter element, could be both.
The lighter fuse is barrel shaped, has a male and female end. The female end threads onto the male end of the lighter socket.
The feed wire pushes onto the male end.

The **** for the ligher element threads onto it. Push the element out, grab the end of it with one hand, then unscrew the **** with the other.
The lighter element's bezel is made as part of it. The 1961/66 F100/1100 original element was replaced by the type used on 1973/79 F100/750's, its bezel is slighty smaller in diameter.
The original element is obsolete, no one reproduces it, there are only 6 available NOS
